Together with KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Uppsala University, the Swedish Toxicology Sciences Research Center, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, Innventia AB, Acreo Swedish ICT AB and SwedNanoTech, Disruptive Materials AB was awarded a 4 year grant from MISTRA (The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Environmental Research) to develop smart materials for removal of chemical wastes and pollutants from ambient water and air in the environment and industrial effluents.
According to MISTRA´s international review panel “TerraClean was the strongest application and the one best corresponding to the specifications defined in the text of the funding call. Simultaneously, the researchers applying are well established and world-leading in their respective subject areas”
In the project porous material solutions will be developed for amongst others separation of CO2 from flue gas, biogas and filters for air quality control, selective adsorption of volatile organic chemicals for indoor air quality control, heavy metal ion removal from waste water, and arsenic removal from mining industry effluents.
